Why So Many Readers Are Turning to Christian Fiction Right Now

For a long time, Christian fiction carried a certain reputation. People expected predictable plots, perfect characters, and stories that wrapped everything up neatly by the last chapter. But that's never been the kind of story I wanted to write. I wanted stories with real danger. Real heartbreak. Real romance. Characters who wrestle with fear, doubt, forgiveness, and faith the same way many of us do in everyday life. Apparently, I wasn't the only one looking for that.
More People Are Discovering Christian Fiction
Lately, it seems like faith-based stories are everywhere. More Christian movies are making it to theaters. Streaming services are investing in faith-centered content. Publishers are expanding their Christian fiction lines. For those of us who've loved these stories for years, it's exciting to watch. It feels like more readers are discovering something we've known all along: stories can be entertaining without leaving faith behind.
The Numbers Tell the Same Story
Even the publishing industry is seeing the change. Christian fiction sales have been growing, with Christian romance leading much of that growth. Readers aren't simply trying one or two books out of curiosity. They're coming back for more. That tells me people are hungry for stories that offer more than just an escape.
Why I Think It's Happening
I don't know all the reasons, but I have a few thoughts. Life has felt heavy for many people over the past several years. We're surrounded by uncertainty, bad news, and plenty of reminders that the world isn't as it should be. Maybe that's why so many readers are searching for stories that still acknowledge life's struggles while offering hope that doesn't feel forced. Not because everything works out perfectly. But because God is still at work, even when life isn't. Those are the stories I love reading. They're also the stories I love writing.
The Stories I've Always Wanted to Tell
When I started writing Christian romantic suspense, I wasn't thinking about trends. I simply wanted to write the kinds of books I couldn't seem to find often enough. Stories where the suspense keeps you turning pages, romance grows slowly through trust and sacrifice, and characters make mistakes, ask hard questions, and discover that faith isn't something they already have figured out; it's something they learn to depend on. That's what I hoped to create in Love's Perfect Design, and the Perfect Love series. It's what I'm continuing to write with every book in the series.
